Oriental Trading Company sells some really cute craft kits in bulk on their website. I recently purchased some sea turtle craft kits for a homeschool co-op I led, and they were a lot of fun. While I don’t like all of the crafts on their website, I think many of them are really adorable. Definitely worth checking out. Here’s a pic of the one my youngest made:

Next week we’re going to a local marine science center to learn more about sea turtles.

For the homeschooling moms out there who have heard of lapbooking but aren’t sure what the fuss is all about.. For those who haven’t heard of it and are curious.. For those who would like to learn more. This is a great video that shows a homeschool mom and her child talking about lapbooks they completed together, what they learned, and so forth.

While I can’t say I’ve read this myself, I think it looks wonderful and hope to read it soon. Have any of you read it? If so, what did you think?

While the ads are a bit annoying, dealing with them is TOTALLY worth it because this site is just AMAZING. It’s a fantastic resource complete with recommended books, videos, and craft ideas sorted by theme. Printables available too such as coloring sheets, dot to dot pages, word searches, etc . SONGS and fingerplays too! Wow! It looks like they have an option to join for $25 a year, but when I explored the site, I found a variety activities that were available to non-members. If you try it out, come back and tell me about your experience.

Remember that homeschooling parents can benefit from the many websites run by classroom teachers. I’ve found some amazing resources on non-homeschooling sites.
There are many pages with thematic units for young children. Here are just a couple of my favorites because of the way they are organized:
